Chemical engineering interview questions

What is Chemical engineering ?

Chemical engineering is branch of science and engineering or technology which use unit operation or process to convert a raw material in to desired product in cheapest rate.

Why you choose a Chemical engineering ?

My love , my passion ,my attraction towards chemistry and science ,force me to choose the Chemical engineering as my career. From my school level I like chemistry and doing experiment so I choose a Chemical engineering as my career.

State energy law ? What is low of energy ?

In simple words “energy of universe remain constant , we can’t create the energy or can’t destroy the energy “. We can convert the energy from one form to another form of energy only.

how to calculate power of pump in kw?

Power =( head (M) x Flow (M3/hr) / 360) / pump efficiency

How to calculate the capacity of a machine by the term of power ?

Capacity of any machine is nothing but it’s input of energy divided by it’s output .

What is law of matter ? .

As we know that energy can’t create or can’t destroy as per law of energy m same is hare for law of matter , we can’t create or destroy the matter .

What is ideal gas law ? Ideal gas law :- Ideal gas laws state that for a mixture of Ideal gas solution it’s pressure of it is directly proportional to temperature and inversely proportional to its volume.

For a ideal solution when we heat the solution temperature of solution will rise and when . When we increase the pressure volume of gas is decreased.

PV = n RT

Where ,

P is pressure V is volume n number of moles T is temperature R is gas constant

What is Dalton’s Law ? When we can use it ?

Dalton’s law is useful for calculation of total pressure of a gaseous mixture. Dalton’s law state that total pressure of a gas mixture is equal to the sum of partial pressure of individual gases(chemical engineering interview questions) .

Total P = sum of partial pressure

What is partial pressure ?

Partial pressure is nothing but the pressure of a individual gas in a mixture of gas .

We can calculate partial pressure by equation ,

Partial pressure = number of mole * R* temperature/(Volume )

What is vapour pressure ?

Vapor pressure :- when two liquid come in contact with each other , there two opposing process are in the operation . That two opposing process are nothing but vaporization and condensation . Vaporization is nothing but conversation if liquid in to vapor(chemical engineering interview questions). And condensation is nothing but conversation of vapor in to liquid. Both are opposite process. Vapor pressure is that property which they key point for both of this process . A value of it decide whether process become a evaporation or condensation process ?. So in short vapor pressure is nothing but a certain value of pressure which is in decide the phase . Vapor pressure is nothing but equilibrium pressure which is exerted by vapour liquid equilibrium.

The vapor pressure is nothing but pressure when a vapour and liquid comes under the equilibrium condition.

Is vapor pressure is depends on quantity ? No

If vapor pressure of component A having quantity 1 kg is 15 PSI so what , what is vapor pressure if component A for quantity 10 KG ?

Vapor pressure is not dependent on quantity. So, Vapor pressure for 10 kg quantity is also same i.e. 15 PSI hi

What is Amagat’s law ?

Amagat’s Law is applicable for gaseous mixture. It stat that total volume if gaseous mixture is nothing but sum of partial volume(chemical engineering interview questions).

What is Amagat's law

Amagat’s law stat that mole fraction of a a component in a mixture of gas is nothing but partial volume divided by total volume.

For ideal gas mixture it stat that mole fraction of A component is nothing but partial pressure divided by total pressure.

 mole fraction

Mole fraction of A component = partial volume / Total volume or

= partial pressure / total pressure

In short we say that for ideal gas mixture mole % is equal to the volume % .

What is ideal gas law

Which are the different laws for gaseous mixture ? The law for gaseous mixture are as follows(chemical engineering interview questions)

  • Ideal gas law
  • Dalton’s Law
  • Amagat’s Law
  • Avogadro’s Hypothesis

What is Ideal solution ? Explain in details ?

Ideal solution is is the solution of different components having no Chemical interaction . Ideal solution is a solution which is a mixture of different molecules having same force of attraction ,same force of repulsion and same size too.

In short ideal solution is nothing but solution of a different molecules having(chemical engineering interview questions

  • No Chemical interaction between molecules
  • Equal or same force of attraction between molecules .
  • Equal or same force of repulsion between molecules
  • Which a obey the Law of Ideal solution…

What is mole fraction ?

Mole fraction is nothing but ratio of number of moles of component “A” to the total number of mole . For a binary solution having two components , Component A and Component B the , mole fraction of component A is given as(chemical engineering interview questions).

Mole fraction of A component = total number mole of component A / (mole of of component A + total mole of component B )

Note :- Total mole fraction is always 1 . Total mole fraction can not be more than 1 not smaller than 1 it’s always 1

What is mass fraction ?

Mass fraction of component A in a mixture of is nothing but ratio of mass of component A to the total mass of mixture

For a binary mixture , having two components A & B , mass fraction of component B is given below ,

Mass fraction of component B :- Mass of Component B /(Mass of Component B + Mass of Component A )

Mass fraction of component A is = mass of component A /(Mass of Component B + mass of component A )

Note :- Total mass fraction is always 1 . Mass fraction can not greater than 1 or less than 1 it always 1.

Total mass fraction :- mass fraction of A + mass fraction of B = 1

CHEMICAL engineering notes

What is mean by equilibrium ?

Equilibrium in phase change is nothing but a condition or value which decided the phase as per increasing or decreasing value of equilibrium point(chemical engineering interview questions) .
