Difference between Unit operation and unit process

Hi friends as we know that , its very impotent to know that what is difference between Unit operation.

and Unit Process . this is commonly asking question for chemical engineer in interview. so in thisarticle  i will try to clear all droughts about unit operation and unit process.   

As  we know that chemical engineering is classify into 2 groups
1) Unit operation
2) Unit Process

Unit Operation

• this process is Dr Arthur D Little in 1995 
• Unit operation contain only physical change 
•  
• its not involve chemical change
• Condensation of water vapor is example of Unit operation , water vapor are in gas phase when they condense convert into liquid so ,physical appearance is changed   
• Pump in parallel vrs Pump in series 
• another examples are Heat Exchanger , Mechanical operations ,Filtration,Distillation , extraction ,evaporation of methanol,Evaporation ethanol .   
• in chemical engineering separation and filtration which are necessary for purification or separation of product are termed as Unit operation   of

• This process was first introduces by P H Groggin in 1923 
• Pump in parallel vrs Pump in series
• Unit process involved chemical as well as physical chamges
• mostly reactions are termed as Unit process
