Centrifugal pump

Centrifugal pump is widely used pump in chemical industry .This pump is suitable for liquid having low viscosity . As we know that there main two types of pumps .One is positive displacement pump and second is dynamic pumps or centrifugal pump.
Out of two types of pumps one pump is specifically used for pressure requirement while other is specifically used for flow requirement. Positive displacement is used for liquid having high viscosity or liquid containing solid .

Working principle of Centrifugal pump

Centrifugal pump provide energy to liquid or fluid using centrifugal force . Shaft rotate the impeller , impeller rotate and create the negative pressure in suction side , due to negative pressure liquid is get suck in to the pump casing . After entry of liquid in to the casing , impeller rotate the liquid and finally liquid is get out through discharge nozzle . Vertical pumps

This pump is vertical mounted. In this type of pump , pump is below to the motor .

 

Horizontal Pumps

In this type of pump , motor and pump are Horizontally place on base frame .Easy for maintenance and easy foe handling . This is widely used in chemical industry .


Single stage pumps

This Type of content only one impeller .This type is generally use for small to medium flow requirement .

Multi Stage Pumps

This types of contents more than two impellers in series . This type pumps specially used for high flow .when you want high flow and small space for instillation of centrifugal pump, you can use multi stage pumps.

End suction pumps

This is also most widely used industrial pumps which comes under category of centrifugal pumps.
This is single stage Centrifugal pump. Also we can called it as cost effective pump. This pump have one valuate casing .
There are two types of end Suction pumps . Depending upon there configuration , this pump is available in two categories. One is frame mounted and second is closed coupled .
One common example of close coupled pump is standard water pump .
This types of pumps are available number of different MOC.
This pump is also good for liquid having some high viscosity . Not much more high ,but high than other types of Centrifugal pumps.

Safety in centrifugal pumps

It is necessary to provide a strainer in suction side and a NRV in discharge side . Strainer is necessary to prevent any type of solid material .NRV is necessary to prevent back pressure on impeller of pump . There are three types of strainer y type strainer , bucket stainer , conical strainer .

Suction Nozzle

Suction nozzle should be greater than discharge nozzle . Suction nozzle may be flange end ,threaded.

Discharge nozzle

Discharge nozzle should be smaller than suction nozzle . Suction nozzle may be flange end ,threaded.

Casing

There are three types of casing .

Impellers

There are three types of Impellers.
a) Open impeller
b) Semi-open impeller
c) Closed Impeller
