In demineralised water plant we remove ionic impurities by ion exchange resin bed. In Cation resin bed we can remove the mineral salt which remove by cation exchange resin.
What is pH of DM water?
pH is in the range of 5.5 to 6.5 or 7.
Pure water is acid in nature.
What is hardness of demineralised water ?
Hardness of demineralised water is below 3 PPM or below 3 mg/L to nill.
What is conductivity of de-ionised water?
Typical range of conductivity for deionised water is in bellow 1
What is TDS of deionised water?
Conductivity of de-ionised water is below 1.
In General a standard DM water plant should contains ,
- Sand Filter – for Pre Treatment f water
- Cat-ionic bed – For removal of cat-ionic mineral
- Anionic Bed -For removal of cat-ionic mineral
- Mix Bed

In this article we would like to discuss DM water plant which play most crucial role in our chemical as well as mechanical industries. Before starting the DM water plant we want to the what is the diminrilzed water . specially row water which is available directly in the natural as well as artificially source water is mainly consists mineral or some impurity some time may be beneficial or may be not.not only in ions but also some bacteria or unwanted material present in it. Diminirialized water is water who is free from all contaminate like carbonate or bi carbonate of calcium and magnesium and copper mineral etc. The process where we work to convert row water into a diminrilsed water is called diminirialised water plant.
Principle of diminirialized water plants
It work on the the filtration process mainly in this process filtration is a different type
equipment are uesd they are two types
1) Two bed ion exchange column
2) mixed bed type ion exchange column
Generally we use two bed type ion exchange column in this column two types of column required first anionic tyep exchange column and second is cationic type ion exchange column .In the anionic section we have hydroxyl ion (oH-) present which generate by the feeding of caustic soda who maintain the alkalinity .and the cat ionic section (H+) ion present which generate by the feeding hydrochloride acid who maintain the acidity in the cat-ionic section.
3 . Cat ionic ion exchange column
First of all row water if feed in cat ionic ion exchange column where hydrogen ion present and the sulphates and carbonate ion retain in this column after filtration in this column row water goes in anionic ion exchange column where the cuper and magnesium and some mineral particles filter with the oH- present so this type impurity also removed after that the product which out let of anionic ion exchange column is known as diminirialized water and the place the process run in the large quantities is called diminrialised water plant.it is basically work on the principles of filtration and resins which is used in ion exchange column normal long polymer chain it is so costly.
Importance of diminirialized water plant
It is crucial in our life or we talk about importance than many importance are there
1 it is widely used in laboratories to some experiment is also used to calculate the the turbidity cl2 ca+2 mg+ so4- in the row by comparing with DM water .some important chemical reaction only DM WATER is used.
2 . In the chemical industry it is also used to manufacturing caustics which used in textile
industry.
- DM water widely used in the fertiliser chemical industry to manufacturing uria ammonia etc.
4 . In the medical instruments for the clinical purpose it used.
5 . In the transportation in we transport the DM water in the metal pipe the corositivity is less
compare to row water.row water mean water which is consist ion as well as impurity in the
water.
Advantage of DM Water plant
Many advantages of the DM water in our daily life the cost to convert row water into the DM water is minimum.and DM water is high efficient in the industry .the product quality by using of DM water is increase to give the maximum profitability of our industry. DM water also god to steam formation bcz its Boling point is minimum as compare to waste or row water.so heat required this minimum.
Disadvantage of DM water plant
Basically all mineral are filter by the process so it is not good for our health we use the water for drinking purpose .some time they increase the alkalinity of our water which no good for
reaction.
