      Hi friends today we are discussing  about Process flow diagram (PFD) , Process flow diagram (PFD) is most important for Chemical engineer/process engineer/project engineer/technology transfer engineer. 

 Process flow diagram (PFD) show major process process and equipment involved in process . 

It show only unit operation and process , not instruments involved in process .

A Process flow diagram (PFD) dose not show following things , 

1. piping component 
2. valve 
3. control system 
4. line sizing 
5. utility details 

1. Unit operation (Like filtration  ,separation ) 
2. Timing required to complete the project 
3. Reaction parameters 
4. Chemical name 
5. chemical qty 
6. solvent details 
7. process flow 
8. major bypass 
9. recycle 

Benefits of process flow diagram 

• easy to give training to production peoples – With help of PFD we can easily explain our process to production process .
