types of industrial centrifuge
In this article we would like to study different types of industrial centrifuge Which is frequently used in our chemical industry .
What is centrifuge?
Centrifuge is a machine with a rapidly rotating container that Applies centrifugal force to its centre. Typically to separate fluid Of different densities.
Example-cream from milk .
In industrial centrifuge the rotating speed is so high and centrifuge
So much greater than the force of gravity that’s the liquid surface is
Vertically cylindrical and coaxial with axis of rotation .
G force is very important in centrifuge based on g force we can do we get idea about separation.
the main types of centrifuge used in industry by practically.
- Basket centrifuge
- Bowl type centrifuge (Tubular Centrifuge )
- Alfa Laval
Types of industrial centrifuge.
1.Continous flow centrifuge
2 .Benchtop centrifuge
3.High speed centrifuge
4.Gas centrifuge
5 Hematocrit centrifuge
- Low speed centrifuge
A. Microcentrifuge
B. Refrigerated centrifuge
C. Ultra centrifuge - Vacuum centrifuge
Now the briefly introduction with thier application of centrifuge are below–
1.countinous flow centrifuge – it is fast or rapid centrifuge which is generally allow to
centrifugation for large volume of our sample without affecting sedimentation rate
2.. benchtop centrifuge– it is a centrifuge which is generally used in laboratories . specially for
clinical research of laboratories.
2. Countinous flow centrifuge – it is fast or rapid centrifuge which is generally allow to
centrifugation for large volume of our sample without affecting sedimentation rate of the
particles.
3.high speed centrifuge – the speed of this type centrifuge is greater than the 30000rpm or
equal.it is use in medical field as well as chemical industry.
4.gas centrifuge – it is used to separate isotope of the parents gas like if we want to separate
deuterium from hydrogen gas then we use gas centrifuge.
5.hematocrit centrifuge – it is basically used in the field of medical for testing blood sample like
to count RBC OR WBC separately .also use in biochemistry ( Different types of industrial centrifuges and their uses ).
- Low speed centrifuge- it is the centrifuge who is actually rotating on their fixed angle .or it is
used to separate desirable particles from simple solution.
7.micro centrifuge-
it is most important centrifuge of their application it is use in molecular separation .like in the
cell organelle if we want to separate DNA and nuclei than use this centrifuge. - Refrigerated type centrifuge-
It is basically operate lower temperature .the control in temperature is task in this centrifuge it is
also used in medical field to separate chloroplast from yeast cel. - Ultra centrifuge – this is used to separate ultra fine particle from the solution.
10 . Vacuum centrifuge–
It is basically used low pressure .as pressure is decrease so boiling point also decrease .so we
can say for lower boiling range solution we can use.so chemical and biochemical industry it is
widely used. - Conclusion- in the centrifuge basically hydro-static equilibrium exist.the force of centrifugal are
the main driving force in centrifuge .by the using of hydro-static low we also calculate pressure
drop by using centrifugal force .
Let the w is angular velocity of centrifuge and p is density of fluid and R1 and R2 be the radius
of centrifuge than
Difference in pressure=pw2 (R1-R2)*(R1+R2)/2
If we talk about to separate to different fluid whose density is different then the best tool are
centrifuge .in the centri fluid having a density more it is easily separate out .
In chemical industry they basically use in large scale and design of centrifuge is moderate not
difficult compare to ideal reactor.
If we go in laboratories than we use the model of centrifuge and in pathology testing our blood
samples or identify how much chemical composition .not only laboratories but also use in the
field biotechnology we can use to separate bacteria from testing sample(types of centrifuge in pharma).
